Set up in 1986, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is the pioneering institute of fashion
education in the country and has been in the vanguard of providing professional human resource to the
textile and apparel industry. It was made a statutory institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament
with the President of India as ‘Visitor’ and has full fledged 18 campuses all across the country. Over the
years NIFT has also been working as a knowledge service provider to the Union and State governments
in the area of design development and positioning of handlooms and handicrafts.
Applications are invited on deputation / contract basis for the various “Group-A” posts in National Institute
of Fashion Technology (NIFT) as per the details given below.

Qualification :
Ph. D. Degree in Library & Information Science from recognized University/Institution.
Experience:
Twenty years of experience in Library &Information Science in University / Institution or Government
Organization/Autonomous Body/Statutory Body out of which at least fifteen years at supervisory level(level-10 or equivalent)
Age: 50 years
Maximum upper age-limit for NIFT employees maybe relaxed upto five years or total length of service
rendered (on regular and/or long-term contract basis) whichever is less.
Recruitment on Deputation
Officers of the Central Govt. / State Govt./ UT/ Autonomous Organization / PSUs holding analogous post (Level-13) on regular basis with educational Qualifications as Ph. D. Degree in Library & Information Science from Recognized University / Institution and relevant experiencein managing Library & Information Centres.
Age limit: Maximum age limit for appointment shall
not exceed 56 years as on closing date of receipt
of applications.
