The DBT's Electronic Library Consortium (DeLCON), & National Brain Research Centre, Manesar is organizing a one-day National Seminar on "Enhancing the Role of the Library with New Tools for Teaching and Learning" on 2nd August 2019, (Friday). 

Now, the libraries act as Information Centres, Knowledge Centres, Resource Centres and providing information to their user community using latest technology. The major role and biggest challenges of Libraries and LIS professionals are preparing professionals to use technology effectively and systematically. The library and LIS professionals have been consistently involved with the information storage and retrieval, collection development, systematic organization of reading materials and digital information for the Users Communities. The role of library science professionals to provide correct information in the correct time for the appropriate users with different styles of skills and capability. This seminar will support to the library professionals in terms of how the practices and procedures in library and information science, education meet the need of the actual working environment as well as beat the challenges of Libraries & LIS professionals

The 2018 International Conference on Marching Beyond the Libraries: Managerial Skills and Technological Competencies aims to focus on latest emerging technologies on how library and information professionals can explore and use the latest revelations of information technologies for effective and efficient management of their respective learning resource centres. There is a growing demand to manage the increasing flow of information both in and out of the library optimally, effectively and efficiently. In this context, managerial skills and technological competencies play the most significant role. Therefore, the conference intends to bring together students, LIS scholars, academicians and industry practitioners, library managers and administrators on a single platform to review the latest trends of technological competencies, leadership and managerial skills. The conference will also review the quality of work required by the library and information professionals for adopting, sustaining, and promoting the new technologies with constructive recommendations. The conference is expected to have wide participation of delegates from India and abroad.
There will be a half day work shop on the theme "Critical Thinking and Innovation". In this work shop participants will showcase their creativity towards future librarianship.

The workshop will provide detailed knowledge about three most widely used Open Source Software i.e. Koha,  DSpace  and VuFind. There will be extensive hands on practice.
The following topics will be covered:
  1. Library Automation using Koha [advance level]
  2. Web based Discovery services using VuFind and its integration with Koha
  3. Institutional Digital Repository and services using Dspace [advanced level]
  4. Digital library Services

Interested academicians, working professionals and research scholars in the field of Library and Information Science may attend this advanced training programme which will be very effective to run modern library. It may also be noted that IT Professionals working in Library are also suitable to attend the courses.
