Part- 1:

General Study

01.     - Proficiency in Languages

A.    General English: Reading comprehension, word power, Cloze Test, Sentence Improvement, Spotting the errors, Sentence Rearrangement, and Synonyms/Antonyms. Grammar & usage.

B.    General Hindi:

02.       General Awareness& Current Affairs: Appointment, Sports Award, Sports Related Player, Educational Award, Technology Related.

 

03.          Reasoning Ability: Puzzles & Seating arrangement, Data sufficiency, Statement based questions (Verbal. reasoning), Inequality, Blood relations, Sequences and Series, Direction Test, Assertion and Reason, Venn Diagrams.

 

04.       Computer Literacy: Fundamentals of Computer System, Basics of Operating System, MS Office, Keyboard Shortcuts and their uses, Important Computer Terms and Abbreviations, Computer Networks, Cyber Security, and the Internet.

 

Part- 2:

Subject-Specific Syllabus (Library & Information Science) -

 

I: Foundation of Library & Information Science.

 

1. Library as a Social Institution

-   Social & Historical foundations of Library.

-   Different types of libraries- Academic, Public, Special –their distinguishing features and functions.

-   Role of U.G.C. for the development of Academic libraries.

-   Role in Library of formal and informal education. Shivaji University, Kolhapur

 

2. Normative Principles of Lib. & Inf. Science

-   Five Laws of Library Science.

-   Implications of five laws in Lib. & Inf. Science

·      Selection Procedure

The recruitment examination will be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT)

 

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the written examination (CBT TEST) and interview.

 

The weightage of the Written Test and Professional Competency (Demo Teaching & Interview) will be in the ratio of 70:30. Final merit list will be based on the performance of the candidate in the Written Test & Professional Competency Test taken together

 

·       Exam Pattern

There will be two papers. The 1st paper will be 80 marks and the 2nd paper will be 100 marks.

There will be 180 Objective type multiple-choice questions. / 180

 

There will be a carrying 01 mark for each question

 

The duration of the written test will be 180 minutes for paper without any time limit for each part individually.

 

Professional Competency Test: The Professional Competency Test is 60 marks (Demo Teaching -30 marks and Interview -30 Marks).

 

·       Brief Exam Syllabus

Paper 1:

1)                  Proficiency in Languages (30 Questions of 30 marks)

•         General English -15 questions of 15 Marks

•         General Hindi -15 questions of 15 Marks

2)                      General Awareness& Current Affairs - (20 Questions of 20 Marks)

3)                      Reasoning Ability - (20 Questions of 20 Marks)

4)                       Computer Literacy - (10 Questions of 10 Marks)

 

Paper 2:

Subject-Specific Syllabus (Library & Information Science) - 100 Questions of 100     Marks
